WINTER
Steam from stags’ nostrils; drifting mists; golden light
Skeletal trees on the horizon, gathering themselves
While blackbirds and robins plunder berries from our holly tree
Gorgeous red-on-green jewels filling tiny bellies
Skeletal trees on the horizon, gathering themselves
This wintery time of hardship will pass
Gorgeous red-on-green jewels filling tiny bellies
And with spring’s rewarming, new green shoots emerge
This wintery time of hardship will pass
Making ready for spring soon, gearing up for new growth
And with spring’s rewarming, new green shoots emerge
Chlorophyll powering up, ecstatic, celebrating life
Making ready for spring soon, gearing up for new growth
While blackbirds and robins plunder berries from our holly tree
Chlorophyll powering up, ecstatic, celebrating life
Steam from stags’ nostrils; drifting mists; golden light.
